The study explores strategies to encourage tourists to drive an electric vehicle in an environment-friendly tourism destination. Electric vehicles have emerged as one of the solutions to fix severe environmental problems. Respondents as potential tourists were asked to answer questions in an online questionnaire, and the survey results show that tourists’ environment-friendly perceptions did not have a direct impact on the intention to drive an electric vehicle in an environment-friendly tourism destination, but did when their environment-friendly attitudes toward environmental and sociocultural benefits from driving an electric vehicle mediated fully the relationship between the perception and the intention. Tourists are not involved in environment-friendly tourism activities when they perceive the ethics of environment-friendly behaviors, but they are when they perceive the benefits from environmentfriendly behaviors. Tourists might spontaneously drive an electric vehicle in an environment-friendly tourism destination when a policy to educate them about environmental problems and raise the awareness of the benefits from driving an electric vehicle is implemented, and both policy makers and entrepreneurs are involved in initiatives to help facilitate the use of electric vehicles. As the tourism industry has developed alongside the development of vehicles, it has resulted in severe environmental problems. Environment-friendly vehicles are important for sustainable tourism. Therefore, this study highlights the importance of educating people on the benefits of environment-friendly behavior for the sustainable use of tourism resources.
