Due to the rapid growth of digital media, information is provided through diverse devices out of internet area and came to have close relationship with human without limitation of time and place. With wireless internet and diverse private mobile devices whenever and wherever you can be provided, the need of information acquisition, particularly the information for individuals, has greatly been increased.
The information for individuals means the provision of information suitable for time and location of the users, and the information constantly changes. However, current information provision method in limited scene and operation environment of mobile devices only provides fixed information as a result of Output according to users’ Input. That is, information is set in limited interaction environment. Wireless internet environment means the environment and technology that allows users with access to internet service and provision of information through Wireless Network based on private mobile devices as they walk, and requires ‘moveable’, ‘individual’ features different from the existing media and ‘immediate access’ and ‘usefulness’ providing every hour information. In this wireless environment through private device, the mobile information centering on the user is necessary. However, the study of current mobile information provision method mostly concentrates on technical parts resulting lack of empirical research.
By applying needs and experiment of user in mobile information environment to design process of information structure, the study goals to suggest the effective design of information structure in different condition of wireless internet from the existing system.
In order to do that, the study process largely by four steps of research process. First, through the analysis of existing research example, it defines the mobile information, the core of the study, and acknowledges the mobile service that mobile information is applied and is the application. Second, it analyzed the types and problems of information structure in current mobile map service, through the analysis of information structure of mobile map service of 3 existing mobile communication service companies and through user survey. Third, based on the result from the existing study cases and user survey, it suggests the guideline of factors that must be considered or reflected when designing mobile information structure. Lastly, it presents the needs of user of mobile map service in the application target area, Cheonggyecheon, and, based on this, it plans information structure of mobile map service provided in Cheonggyecheon area according to the design of mobile information structure suggested ahead.
The study suggests the design guideline for mobile information structure centering around user and presents the effectiveness and application possibility of the design of mobile information structure through the study of precedents. The result of study put importance on the future mobile environment, interface in ubiquitous environment, and design of mobile information structure maximizing users’ experience as a major issue.
