Creativity is increasingly becoming a key construct in management studies. However there seems to be little contemplation on how to best assess it. If serious, measurement error can potentially threaten the validity of conclusions about relationships between measures. For creativity studies in management research, many employ a subjective assessment approach instead of a more objective approach despite recognizing the many dangers of bias. In an attempt to develop a more reliable and valid assessment measure for creativity, this paper calls for the need of triangulation of subjective and objective assessment methods of creativity. Comparing subjective and objective assessment results measuring creativity, it shows that subjective assessment methods have a smaller variance and higher mean and a weak correlation with objective assessment methods. This shows that the two different approaches could lead to different results, calling for greater caution in using the two different approaches interchangeably.
