This study seeks to theologically illuminate the message of hope proclaimed by the prophets of the Old Testament in an age overwhelmed by despair, and to examine its contemporary continuation in the theology of “Absolute Positivity” espoused by Pastor Younghoon Lee. Prophets such as Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Haggai declared messages of steadfast hope rooted in God’s covenant and promise of restoration, even amid judgment and devastation. This paper analyzes these prophetic messages through six theological lenses: the theology of a good God, paradoxical theology, the theology of the Word, theology of decision, theology of resistance, and the theology of the present. It then explores theological continuities and insights in comparison with Lee’s theology of Absolute Positivity. Pastor Lee emphasizes unwavering trust in God’s goodness and providence in the face of despair, urging the church and believers to embody lives shaped by positivity and hope. His theology is not mere optimism but rather a faith-based theology of hope that calls for existential decision and creatively envisions the future. By bridging prophetic hope with the theological praxis of the contemporary church, this study offers a pathway for rekindling the flame of restoration and revival in today’s age of despair.
