The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of child care teachers' perceive personality on meal guidance, ultimately providing implications for development ways to facilitate the positive acceptance and better application of such impact. For the purpose, the study set up the following research questions.
1. How are child care teachers' perceived personality and state of meal guidance?
2. How does child care teachers' meal guidance vary depending on their demographic characteristics?
3. How does child care teachers' perceived personality affect meal guidance?
Participants of the study were 352 child care teachers working for nurseries located in B city. The study made a questionnaire survey of them from Feb. 21 to March 7, 2023. As a measuring instrument, the questionnaire was a modified and supplemented combined version of Kim In-hye's(2017) personality scale for child care teachers and Kim Hye-yeon's(2011) meal guidance inventory.
First, this study investigated participants' demographic characteristics with the help of frequency and percentage calculation. It also worked out descriptive statistics to clarify the respondents' perceived personality and state of meal guidance.
Second, Cronbach's α coefficient was calculated to discover how much the measuring instrument used here is reliable.
Third, t-test and F-test were carried out to know how child care teachers vary in perception of personality and meal guidance depending on their demographic characteristics. And then, Scheffé test was conducted as part of post-test.
And fourth, this research made Pearson's product-moment correlation analysis to determine relationships between child care teachers' perceived personality and meal guidance. In addition, a regression analysis was carried out to turn out the impact of that personality on that meal guidance.
The findings of this study can be summarized in the following.
First, personality perceived by child care teachers surveyed here was more than average in level, which was significantly different by age and marital status that belonged to the teachers' demographic characteristics.
Second, child care teachers' meal guidance was higher than average in level. However, the level varied significantly depending on position that was included in demographic characteristics of the participants.
And third, there was a positive relationship between child care teachers' perceived personality and meal guidance. This was the case for any factor of that personality and any factor of that meal guidance. Thus, it seems that child care teachers' perceive personality helps practice meal guidance in a positive fashion. More notably, it is suggested that among factors of the perceived personality, personality for the teaching profession is more significantly correlated to meal guidance than universal personality. In conclusion, child care teachers' perceived personality for the teaching profession has really a meaningful, positive effect on guiding meals.
