Research on teachers` cognition, especially teachers` knowledge and beliefs has grown rapidly over the past two decades and now constitute a substantial area of inquiry in explorations of the nature of teaching. The growth of research in this area has instigated new ways of thinking about teaching and about professional and educational development. But Research on various aspects of teachers` cognitions is just beginning in Korea. So the purpose of this study is to review research literature on teachers` cognition and to compare between novice and experienced teacher`s knowledge and beliefs. As results, this research suggests a set of recommendations for preservice and inservice teacher education program. These recommendations will help novice and experienced teachers expand and elaborate their professional knowledge base.
