This study conducted two-dimensional hydraulic experiments to investigate the wave transmission coefficient for composite type vertical structure, in which a vertical caisson is placed on a rubble-mound foundation. The commonly used design configuration was applied to the tests. The experimental results were compared with Goda (1969) and it could be seen some discrepancies. The measured data were analyzed using an exponential form consistent with recent overtopping-discharge prediction researches and the experimental formula for wave transmission was proposed that accounts for significant wave height, significant wave period, water depth and mound height under irregular wave conditions.
