The purpose of present study is to introduce the use of therapeutic metaphors in child counseling and psychotherapy. Specifically, the researcher described the nature, forms, and clinical values of therapeutic metaphors. Metaphor is a form of symbolic language which represent or suggest something beyond their immediate appearance. therapeutic metaphors can have many different forms. They can be fairy tale, stories, art, and so on. Since children frequently use fantasy as a way of communicating and processing information, metaphors in play therapy are quite easily used. There are many clinical situations with children where metaphors can be very useful. Contacting the child within is the pivotal element in building therapeutic relationships between therapist and handicapped children. The clinical values of therapeutic metaphors are viewed as a successful communication tool that appeared to mediate therapeutic change in pleasant and imaginative way.
