Two allergenic fractions in crude German cockroach extract have been isolated with Sephacryl S-200 gel filtration. The par- tially purified fractions of CR-PI and CR -PII elicited a positive skin response in 20% and 100%. Of pediatric patients sensitive to the crude extracts, respective ly Crude extract contains at least 28 antigenic components, as demonstrated by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide g d electrophoresis. CR-PI and CR-PII contain 10 and 15 antigenic components respectively as demonstrated by sodium dodecyl sulfate -polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Electroblotting analysis with sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electro- phoresis reveals 13 allergenic components of molecular weights with 111, 000, 88, 000, 74, 000, 64, 000, 55, 000, 50, 000, 44, 000, 42, 500, 39, 000, 37, 000 32, 500, 29, 000 and 22, 000 daltons that are able to bind specific IgE. Among these 13 principal allergens, one component of molecular weight 64, 000 daltons in CR-PII bound strongly the sera of atopic patients tested. This protein is undoubtedly the major allergen of German cockro ach extract in Korean atopic children.
