20세기 호서지역 지식인들의 현실인식과 대응양상 -권태훈, 성락서, 서명원의 변혁적 리더십과 리더스피릿(leader spirit)을 중심으로- = Perceptions of Reality and Response Patterns among 20th-Century Intellectuals in the Hoseo Region -Focusing on the Transformational Leadership and Leader-spirit of Kwon Tae-hoon, Seong Nak-seo, and Seo Myeong-won-

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 20세기 근현대 호서지역에서 활동한 지식인 봉우 권태훈, 운정 성락서, 화곡 서명원을 중심으로, 이들의 현실 인식과 대응 양상을 분석하였다. 이들은 종교, 교육, 정치‧행정 분야에서 활약하며 당대 사회의 모순과 위기를 인식하고, 공동체적 가치를 실현하고자 실천에 나선 인물들이다.
본 연구는 이들의 리더십을 ‘변혁적 리더십’으로 규정하고, 그 철학적 기반인 ‘리더스피릿’을 통해 그 사상과 실천을 고찰하였다. 분석 결과, 권태훈은 ‘민족운동을 통한 정신 수련’, 성락서는 ‘윤리와 철학에 입각한 양심 사회 구축’, 서명원은 ‘교육적 자치를 통한 민주사회 구현’이라는 비전을 제시하였다.
이들의 공통된 리더 정신은 ‘자주적 민족의식’, ‘교육을 통한 인재 양성’, ‘절의 정신’, ‘세계 평화와 민주사회 지향’으로 요약될 수 있다. 이러한 사유와 실천은 오늘날 지역사회의 애민적 개혁을 위한 대안적 리더십의 자원으로서 중요한 함의를 지닌다.

This paper analyzes the intellectuals Bongwoo Kwon Tae-hoon, Unjeong Seong Rak-seo, and Hwagok Seo Myeong-won, who were active in the Hoseo region during the modern and contemporary periods of the 20th century. It examines their awareness of reality and their responses to it. These individuals were active in the fields of religion, education, and politics/administration, recognizing the contradictions and crises of the time and taking practical steps to realize communal values.
This study defines their leadership as "Transformational leadership" and explores their thoughts and practices through the philosophical foundation of "Leader-spirit." The analysis reveals that Kwon Tae-hoon proposed the vision of "Spiritual training through national movements," Seong Rak-seo advocated for the "Construction of a conscientious society based on ethics and philosophy," and Seo Myeong-won envisioned the "Realization of a democratic society through educational autonomy." The common leadership spirit shared by these individuals can be summarized as "Autonomous national consciousness," "Cultivation of talented individuals through education," "Spirit of integrity," and "Aspiring for world peace and a democratic society." Their thoughts and practices hold significant implications as resources for alternative leadership in today's efforts for compassionate reform within local communities.
