The purpose of this study is to identify whether learning flow plays a mediating role in the effect relationship between social support and career preparation behaviors of vocational trainees among young job seekers in the IT field. Based on the purpose of this study, following research questions were established; First, does social support for vocational trainee influence career preparation behaviors? Second, does learning flow of vocational trainee influence career preparation behaviors? Third, does learning flow play a mediating role in the relationship between social support and career preparation behaviors for vocational trainees?
To verify these research questions, a survey was conducted with young people aged under 34 who want to work in the IT field and have participated in the government funded vocational training program in the past six months. Total 306 survey was collected; and, 290 survey dataset, excluding improper responded survey, was statistically analyzed using SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0. The results of this study are summarized as follows;
First, social support has a positive effect on career preparation behaviors, and the correlations is significant in statistical analysis. Consequently, it can be inferred that social support enhances career preparation behaviors. Second, learning flow has a positive effect on career preparation behaviors, and the correlations is significant in statistical analysis. Third, in the analysis on mediating effect of learning flow in the effect relationship between social support and career preparation behaviors, direct positive effect of social support on career preparation behaviors is not statistically significant; but, indirect effect of social support on career preparation behaviors through learning flow as the mediating factor, is statistically significant. Therefore, it finds that learning flow has complete mediating effect on the relationship between social support and career preparation behaviors. This analysis result implies that it is needed to promote learning flow to enhance career preparation behaviors of young vocational trainees.
This study is significant in presenting the requirement of learning flow environment and curriculum that allows vocational trainees to engage in the training program with social support to enhance career preparation behaviors of young vocational trainees. Identification of various factors affecting career preparation behaviors of young vocational trainees and establishment of appropriate plans are remained for future study.
