해방 직후 영등포 공장지대와 노동운동 = Yeongdengpo Industrial Zone and Labor Movement just after Liberation

Korea had been aimed at a supply base by Japanese colonial industrial policies in the 1930s'. The Kyongin industrial district had been important to the colony at these policies. Yeongdengpo Industrial Zone had been formed in the course of these policies. Like other industrial districts in South Korea, the production of this district economy. And because of the gravitation of the industrial population, it was highly influential area in the political context. The labor movement leaded by National Council of Choson Labor Union(조선노동조합전국평의회)(hereinafter called Nation Council) developed with activity.
There are some characteristic aspects at the labor movement of this district. There was a struggle for the leadership between left-wing fraction(represented by National Council) and right-wing fraction(represented by 'The Federation of Korea Trade Unions for Stimulating the Independence(대한독립촉성노동총연맹)'. And it had started earlier and developed intensely. There were nationwide movement for ownership and management by workers in each plant right after the Liberation. Some socialists groups in this district that had played political activities since the later colonial era were interested in the movement for ownership and management by workers. They insisted that the movement should be controlled by the workers who had took part in labor political activities. The workers' self-control committees organized in the large factories had a major influence on the movement, because they embraced the organized workers.
The new form of political labor movement developed at the cotton factories before or after mayday 1946. And a struggle between left-wing fraction and right-wing fraction began to intensify at the moment of forming the Yeongdengpo regional subordinate league under the control of The Federation of Korea Trade Unions firstly at 26th same month.
