다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study examined Korean etymology and historical lexicology research of the journal Hangeul from 1927 to 1936. It opens the study by identifying the perspectives and methods of these papers.<BR/> It is represented a concept like the semantic orthographic principle (Korean: phyo-eui-hwa) in this period. The researches were performed in variationist and historical-comparativist standpoint.<BR/> Etymological researches on individual words includes studies that focus rather on concepts or objects than purely linguistic components, and combine them with socio-cultural changes. Additionally, some researches attempted semiotic research. Researches on lexical category and system that examined the etymology of a class(es) of words got into being.<BR/> Interests in etymology and historical lexicology contributed to the selection of normative words and played a role in compiling lexical materials for editing the Korean language dictionary.
