현금흐름이 연구개발비투자에 미치는 영향분석 = The Relationship between R&D Investment and Cash Flows

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Economists have argued that internal finance should be an important determinant of R&D expenditures. This paper find an statistically significant relationship between R&D investment and cash flows. Research results are as follows. First, in high-tech industries before foreign exchange crisis, the result shows that cash flow is not an important determinant of R&D investment. But after foreign exchange crisis, the result shows that cash flow is an important determinant of R&D investment. Second, in non-high-tech industries before foreign exchange crisis, the result shows that cash flow is an important determinant of R&D investment. After foreign exchange crisis, the result shows that cash flow is also an important determinant of R&D investment.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 외환위기 전후에 있어서 현금흐름 등이 연구개발비 투자에 어떤 영향을 미쳤는지 분석하였고, 또한 비첨단업종과 첨단업종의 현금흐름 등이 연구개발비 투자에 어떤 영향을 미쳤는지를 분석하였다. 첫째, 비첨단산업의 경우 외환위기 이전에 현금흐름이 연구개발비 투자에 양의 유의적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 외환위기 이후에도 현금흐름이 연구개발비 투자에 양의 유의적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 비첨단산업의 경우 외환위기 이전과 이후에 관계없이 현금흐름이 연구개발비투자에 양의 유의적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 가정과 같은 결과를 보여주고 있다. 비첨단산업의 경우 기업의 현재 내부자금사정에 따라 연구개발비투자가 영향을 받는다는 것을 보여주고 있다. 둘째, 첨단산업의 경우 외환위기 이전에 현금흐름이 연구개발비 투자 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났고, 외환위기 이후에는 현금흐름이 연구개발비 투자에 양의 유의적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 첨단산업의 경우 현금흐름이 연구개발비투자에 미치는 영향은 외환위기 이전과 이후에 다른 결과를 보여주고 있다. 외환위기 이전의 경우 현금흐름이 좋지 않더라도 첨단산업의 연구개발비투자는 유동성제약의 영향을 거의 받지 않을 것이라는 가정과 일치된 결과를 보여주고 있다.
