The March First Movement was a watershed that announced a new departure in history of natioanl liberation movement. Except the Minority of pro-Japanese group, the Korean nation joined the line of nation’s independence. Despite active participation, The March First Movement could not achieve the final aim. After the World War Ⅰ, an international order has been reorganized, and the national liberation movement was sought to meet the new change.
The mass struggle was stressed based on the theory of popular movement by inflow of Socialism. In Busan, the variety of theory of anti-Japanese movement were sought to meet these flows. A student movement was continued from the March First Movement to right after Korean liberation. The implement of Korean principal education and exclusion of Japansese teachers who segregated Koreans became major problems. The combination of experience developed into the central force starting from 1935 who took the lead in the anti-imperialist and anti-war movements. The variety of activities that awakened the national spirits were conducted opposing the policy to obliterate the Korean nation. The Busan Student Indepentence Movment in 1940 and secret organization on a small scale were a ‘Cape of Good Hope’ which lightened the dark of colonial period.
In the early 1920s, the general strike of workers of Busanport faced into an unheard of situation. The strike of association of printing workers was in same situation. The Labor agitator stood against their suppression through exchange and communication with the outside world. The cooperative society movement and movement of night school was one of the factors intensifying the awareness of reality of workers. The ceremony of May Day was a foundation which awakened the worker’s sens of sovereignty.
The Busan branch of Singanhoe was organized based on labor associations and youth organizations. The base of mass organization was realized in close relations with labor movement, and cultural enlightenment and student mov movements was in the same vein. Especially, the progress of labor movement was a base to secure the pupular appeal getting out of petit-bourgeois-centralism. It conducted in conjunction with mass struggles and national liberation movements. The Busan branch of Singanhoe had relation with these cognition, which raised the theory of dissolution of Singanhoe at first.
