There are few reports about urinary heavy metal concentrations of childern. The authors tride to study the levels of heavy metals in the young population in city.
This study was intended to investigate the normal range of the urinary level of heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, copper and zinc in the random samples in Seoul and Iri.
The concentrations of the heavy metals were measured with Atomic Absortion Spectrophotometer in 1986.
The summarized results were as follows;
1. The concentrations of the heavy metals in sampled urine by area are;
28.7±18.6㎍/ℓ of Pb in urban area
27.8±9.5㎍/ℓ of Pb in surban area
1.5±0.7㎍/ℓ of Pb in urban area
1.4.±0.5㎍/ℓ of Pb in suburban area
12.8±10.0㎍/ℓ of Pb in urban area
10.1±7.8㎍/ℓ of Pb in suburban area
361±288㎍/ℓ of Zn in urban area
326±118㎍/ℓ of Zn in suburban area
2. Thus children living in Seoul seem to have slightly higher concentration of the heavy metals than that in Iri.
