동양의 도덕관이 현대도덕교육에 주는 시사 = The Implication of the Oriental Morality on the Moral education

국문 초록 (Abstract)

흔히 동양의 도덕관은 서양의 합리주의적 도덕관의 한계를 극복할 수 있는 대안으로 생각된다. 서양의 합리주의적 도덕관은 인간의 주체성과 합리성을 지나치게 강조하다보니 인간 삶의 전체성과 관계성을 사상시켜버리는 한계를 지닌다. 동양의 도덕관은 인간 삶의 전체성과 관계성 속에서 도덕성을 규정한다는 점에서 서양의 합리주의적 도덕관의 난점을 보완한다. 그러나 그렇다고 하여 서양의 합리주의적 도덕관을 동양의 도덕관으로 대치해야 한다고 주장하는 것은 시대착오인 것이다. 동양의 도덕관이 현대도덕교육에 주는 시사를 의미있게 설명하기 위해서는 서양의 합리주의적 도덕관이 하려고 했던 것이 무엇인지, 그리고 그 과정에서 무엇은 하였고 무엇은 하지 못했는지를 역사적 맥락 속에서 살펴보아야 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

It is often thought that the Oriental thought makes up for the weak point of the Occidental moral education theory. The Occidental emphasizes human's subjectivity and rationality, and so it abstracts the relationship and totality of the human life. The Oriental thought can make up for this weak point in that is defines the morality on the basis of the relationship and totality of the human life. For all that, it is anachronistic that the Occidental moral education theory should be replaced with the Oriental thought. To properly explain the implication of the Oriental thought on the moral education, it is necessary to answer to what the Occidental moral education theory intended to do, and what it had done, and it did not have done under the historical context.
