The purpose of this study is to investigate the cognitive characteristics of 3-6 years-old children with disability on the assessment of the K-ABC. The subjects are children with SLI, mental retardation, cerebral palsy, and normal development. Significant group differences are found in mental processing composite scores. The normal development group, the SLI group, the cerebral palsy group, and the mental retardation group show high score in order of the score. However, in sequential processing the cerebral palsy group receive highrer score than the SLI group, reversed in simultaneous processing. The results of the mental processing composite according to the group are as follows: the SLI group show low score in sequential processing rather than simultaneous processing(p<.01); the mental retardation group reveal low score in simultaneous processing(p<.01): there are no significant difference in the cerebral palsy and the normal development between the two scales(simultaneous processing and sequential processing). The SLI group show low score in achievement score rather than mental processing composite(p<.01); the mental retardation group reveal low score in mental processing composite(p<.05): there are no significant difference in the cerebral palsy and the normal development between the two scales(achievement and mental processing composite).
