Recently, early intervention and early childhood special education have focused more on high-quality inclusion and naturalistic intervention. Embedded learning opportunities have been viewed as one of the promising intervention strategies for this trend.
The purpose of the study was to review the current literature about embedding young children's goals and objectives within daily routines and to review its concept and practical strategies.
The successful application of embedded learning opportunities requires that interventionists, caregivers, and guardians of children engage in the following practices: (1) Administration of a curriculum-based assessment needs to be encouraged to elicit high-quality goals and objectives, which will be easily embedded into daily activities, (2) Embedding schedules and activity plans needs to be designed to ensure multiple and varied learning opportunities across daily activities, (3) Children's progress toward their goals and objectives as well as teachers' implementation of embedded learning opportunities need to be systematically and comprehensively monitored on a regular basis.
