특성화고 직업영어 교재 구성 체제 개발 연구 = Developing a Format of Vocational English Textbooks for Vocational High Schools

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to develop a format of vocational English textbooks for vocational high schools. Vocational English is intended to increase English proficiency in the area of specific industry or jobs.
Based on the review of the literature, the study established the definition and objectives of vocational English and analyzed the contents as well as structures of Korean and foreign textbooks related to vocational English.
The textbook format was developed on the basis of modular system. Considering that this textbook is focused on the communication at work, the task or activity in a unit in the modular system consists of 1) an integrated format of four communication functions such as reading, writing, listening, speaking, 2) a format of reading and writing, and 3) a format of speaking and listening.
The study suggested tasks for developing vocational English textbooks based on this format and future research directions for effective development and use of the textbooks in the vocational high schools.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

글로벌 경제화와 직업세계의 다변화 속에서 직업 또는 직무와 연계된 영어 능력의 습득 필요성이 높아짐에 따라 이를 뒷받침해 줄 수 있는 영어교육 체제 구축에 관한 논의가 증가하였다. 특히 특성화고 졸업생의 진로가 진학에서 취업으로 옮겨감에 따라 해당 분야의 직무에 관한 지식 및 기능과 더불어 실무에서 영어를 활용할 수 있는 능력에 대한 요구가 높아지게 되었다.
이러한 필요성에 기초하여 본 연구에서는 실무와 연계한 영어활용 능력을 길러줄 수 있는 직업영어 교재의 개발을 목적으로 직업영어에 대한 개념 설정과 함께 직업영어 교재의 구성 체제를 개발하였다. 이를 위하여 문헌 분석을 통해 직업영어의 정의 및 목표를 수립하고, 국내외 직업영어 교재의 내용 및 구조 분석과 함께 교재 구성 체제 개발에 관한 선행연구를 검토하여 직업영어의 교재 구성을 설계하였다.
직업영어 교재개발은 ‘모듈식 교재’의 특성과 구성요소에 기초하여 직업영어 교재의 외형적 체제를 설계하고, 모듈별(대모듈․중모듈․소모듈) 구성 및 전개 방식을 구안하였다. 특히 소모듈에서 과제 활동(task/activity)은 의사소통의 네가지 기능인 ‘읽기, 쓰기, 말하기, 듣기가 모두 통합된 복합형’, ‘읽기/쓰기 중심 유형’, ‘듣기/말하기 중심 유형’으로 구분하였다. 그리고 대모듈, 중모듈, 소모듈 작성 양식도 개발하여 제시하였다.
마지막으로 직업영어 교재 구성 체제에 기반한 교재 개발 방향과 향후 활용 방안에 대하여 제언하였다.
