(Purpose) This study aimed to longitudinally analyze trends in health-related physical fitness across the life cycle of Koreans and to identify characteristics by age group. (Methods) Health-related physical fitness measurement data from 751,744 individuals were collected through the National Fitness 100 program over a nine-year period from 2014 to 2022.
The study participants were categorized into four age groups according to their life cycle stages: childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and older adulthood. Descriptive statistical analyses were conducted to examine the patterns of health-related physical fitness changes in each group, and time series trends were visualized and presented. (Results) The analysis revealed distinct patterns of health-related physical fitness changes across different lifecycle stages. While health-related physical fitness levels showed an overall declining tendency in the childhood and adolescent groups, continuous improvement was observed in the adult and older adult groups. (Conclusion) These findings suggest that the patterns of health-related physical fitness changes differ according to age group.
