청소년음주행위가 자살생각에 미치는 영향에 관한 종단연구 = A Longitudinal effects analysis of adolescent drinking on the suicidal ideation

Suicide among adolescents have increased and alcohol use was a key risk factor of suicide. The purpose of this study was to examine the trajectory of adolescent drinking and suicidal ideationand the longitudinal effects of adolescent drinking on suicidal ideation. The data from Korean Youth Panel Study(2-4 wave) were used in this study and data were analyzed by Latent Growth Curve Model(LGM) and multi-group analysis. The findings of this study were as follows: First, higher initial levels of adolescent drinking predicted faster rates of increase in their suicidal ideation. Second, Faster rates of increase in adolescent drinking predicted slower rates of decrease in their suicidal ideation over time. Multi-group analysis revealed no significant differences of gender and family structure, academic grade in the relation between drinking and suicidal ideation. Based on these findings, the research discussion reinforced the importance of a bidirectional view for adolescent suicide prevention approach and understanding about bidirectional process of drinking and suicidal ideation. Effective interventions for adolescent drinking should be integrated with suicidal prevention program.
