Many researchers who concentrated on developing 3D (3-dimensional) indoor and character animation methods are interested in 3D outdoor environment because computer hardware has become more powerful. Especially, they are putting their effort into the implementation of realistic natural environment. However, the research about 3D natural environment is still in its early stages compared to indoor and character animation research. We propose a method for 3D tree animation interacting with the natural phenomena such as wind direction and magnitude, etc. The rotation angles of each segment and branch are calculated using attributes of segments and branches with the direction and magnitude of the wind per frame. As a result, we could make 3D tree animation using accumulated rotation angle of each segment in real-time. We propose simple mathematical solution for 3D tree animation. It improves rendering speed and can be a useful part of 3D outdoor scene. The proposed result is applied to real-time 3D contents like games, VR simulations that have an outdoor background. Also, it makes a high quality content by producing a realistic background using 3D tree animation.
