맑스주의적 도시연구와 인천의 연구방법

국문 초록 (Abstract)

도시공간에 대한 맑스의 논리는 앙리 르페브르, 나뉴엘 카스텔 그리고 데이비드 하비 등에 의해서 재해석되었다. 물론 이들 사이에 차이점은 존재하지만, 모두 도시공간을 자본주의 생산양식과 결합시켰다. 맑스주의적 방법을 인천이라는 도시공간에 적용하면 변증법을 바탕으로 유물론적 분석, 역사적 분석 그리고 계급적 분석을 주목할 필요가 있다. 첫째, 유물론적 관점으로 경제구조의 변화에 따른 도시공간의 환경, 사회문화적 구조는 물론 도시정치나 도시운동 등의 변화가 파악되어야 한다. 둘째, 역사적 관점으로 한국자본주의의 발전에서 인천의 지위와 형성을 역사적으로 조명하고 또한 인천의 미래를 새롭게 세울 필요가 있다. 셋째, 계급적 관점으로 인천에서 생산력 수준의 발전에 따른 계급관계의 변화 그리고 계급운동과 시민운동의 관계를 규명해야 한다. 맑스주의적 방법으로 인천을 연구하면, 인천이 단순한 물리적 공간이 아니라 경제구조와 상부구조가 유기적으로 결합된 하나의 공간으로 이해될 수 있을 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Marx's theory on urban cities has been reinterpreted by Henri Lefebvre, Maniel Castells and David Harvey and although they have some differences, all have perceived urban space as a capitalistic mode of production. Using Marxist approach in analysing Incheon, firstly, economic structures must be discussed from a historical materialists' perspectives and also must be concentrated on environments of urban space and socio-cultural structures, followed by Incheon's superstructure such as metropolitan political structure or urban social movement. Secondly, characteristics that our metropolitan cities have come to bear in the progress of capitalism in Korea must be examined, the historical formation of Incheon as a metropolitan city must be acknowledged within its contradictory nature, and with a swift globalisation of capital, we must look into Incheon's future in comparison with other global cities. Thirdly, Incheon's improvement of production mass and changes in class need to be assessed, forms of class struggle as well as the inter-relationship between class movement and civil social movement, and the effects of environmental and consumer movements and city politics to Incheon's urban space must be examined. Using these Marxist methodologies, we can reach the conclusion that Incheon does not serve as a mere gate to Seoul but an independent urban space where its socio-economic changes, accumulation of capital have been largely influenced by with the development of capitalism in Korea.
