실리콘밸리 기업들의 인공지능과 사물인터넷 기술의 특허정보 분석에 기반을 둔 우리나라 중소 벤처기업의 글로벌 진출전략

국문 초록 (Abstract)

연구방법은 다음과 같은 단계로 구성된다. 첫 번째 단계는 인공지능과 관련된 미국의 대표적 실리콘밸리 소재 IT 기업들이 인공지능과 관련된 특허들을 분석하여 인공지능의 구체적 구현 기술들에 대하여 검색하였다. 특허 분석을 위한 기본 자료로서 미국 특허청 (http://www.uspto.gov) 사이트를 이용하였다. 특허 등록 일자 등의 검색을 통해 추출한 특허 중에서 등록 후 4년 이내의 특허로 범위를 제한하였다.
두 번째 단계로는, 검색된 인공지능의 구체적 구현 기술들을 창업 기술로 하여 최근 급성장한 미국 중소 벤처 기업들의 명단을 확정하고 이들의 구체적 창업 기술에 관하여 심층분석을 시도하였다. 이를 위하여 국내외 벤처 관련 기사를 검색하고 미국 특허청 사이트에서 key words query를 반복적으로 시도하였다. 그 결과 우리나라 중소 벤쳐기업들이 모델로 삼을 수 있는 인공지능 분야의 기술(이하 “대상기술”이라 하였다)들을 선정하였다.
세 번째 단계로는, 대상기술을 확정한 후에는 이 기술에 관한 key words를 미국 특허청 사이트의 검색란에 넣어서 이러한 기업들의 이름을 특허권자 이름(Assignee Name)에 입력하고 대상 기술에 관한 key words 입력을 통하여 이들 기업들의 대상기술 특허들을 검색하였다. 선정된 대상기술에 관하여 선정기술을 창업기술로 활용하고 있는 미국 중소 벤처 기업들의 갯수를 각 분야별로 3개 이내로 한정한 후 이들 기업들의 창업기술이라고 볼 수 있는 특허들의 청구항과 상세설명 부분 등을 기존 발명과의 차별성 및 기술 수준의 위치(position) 등을 심층 분석하였다.
네 번째 단계로는, 이들 기업의 창업기술의 모태가 되는 특허의 청구항 및 기존 발명과의 차별성 등을 분석한 결과를 우리나라 중소 벤처 기업들이 벤치마킹하여 이들 대상기술을 우회하여 개발할 수 있는 가능성 여부 등에 대하여 미래 기술전략을 제시하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The research method consists of the following procedure. In the first step, the artificial intelligence patents of the representative IT companies located in the Silicon Valley were analyzed to explore the technologies further implementing AI technologies. I used the US Patent Office (http://www.uspto.gov) site as a basic site to research. I only searched the registered patents of these representative companies for AI which were registered after 2014.
In the second stage, I tried to find the name of the venture companies in the field of AI in the United States and analyze the detailed concrete features of the technology further implementing AI technologies which were registered as patents by these venture companies, by referring to various articles and US PTO site.
In the third stage, after establishing the target technology, I repeatedly entered the key words on the implemented technologies in the search box of the US Patent Office site, entered the names of these companies in the name of the patent owner (Assignee Name). From this process, I obtained the representative patents of these companies and then further analyzed the innovative features of these patents.
