This study analyzed the structural characteristics and contents of 18 North Korean refugee related Christian counseling researches from 2000 to 2015, which were retrieved through KISS, DBpia, RISS, National Library, etc. The number of researches by structure, year, researcher, and receipt of research fund was confirmed by structural characteristics, and research characteristics and research themes were identified by study subjects and research methods. The subjects of the research were as follows: family, Christian - Spirituality, adjustment (social - psychological), coping strategy, and counseling program.
As a result of the study, the role of spirituality and the church has a functional aspect such as providing psychological stability of the refugees and providing the love of the community, but the negative experience with the Christian or church leaders don`t have a significant influence on their spiritual expansion. The implication of this study is that the research on counseling psychology that has been conducted for the North Korean refugees has been steadily progressing since the North and South Korean summit in 2000, but the Christian counseling research on North Korean refugees has been limited. In order to practice the holistic ministry for the North Korean refugees, research and practice should be conducted together with counseling and ministry.
