The universe(Cosmic naturel 宇宙自然) consists of the endless creations and changes. And The universe is formed of perfect harmony. The purpose of this study is to make clear of Li(理) in Toegye`s philosophy through` The universe` and ‘the principle of The universe`. Making an additional remark, this thesis`s purpose is to clarify what kind of formation in `life force of Li as a the principle of harmony. The universe is being as an living thing, assumes that The universe consists of `cycle of creation and harmony`. And purpose to clarify Li, as the origin of creation and harmony. As a living thing, the universe is formed by ceaseless cycle of creation and harmony. At this point Li plays a leading role for creation and change. Especially Li becomes the Absolute. But Li is not existed in the existence of exceeding without change on existing circumstances. Li`s contents consist of existing circumstances. And there contents change. When that kind of Li is to be The universe, Li is life force of `cycle of creation and harmony in the universe life`. From here, we can find what T`oegye want to say about Li and reach the conclusions as follows. Toegye regards Li as same as `life force`.
