국립익산박물관에서 백제 정원 활용방안 시론 = A discussion on the use of the Baekje Garden by the Iksan National Museum

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Currently, various projects related to the Mireuksa Temple Site, Iksan National Museum, and Mireuksaji Tourist Area are being carried out separately. However, as these sites are complementary, there is a need to link all of them together as one integrated zone. This paper discusses the creation of special zones at Iksan National Museum and the Mireuksaji Tourist Area with the Baekje Royal Palace Garden as the main theme. The purpose of these zones would be to increase organic connections with Mireuksa Temple.
This paper begins with an evaluation of the elements of the landscapes at the two sites and discusses their limitations, before going on to examine recent research findings and existing historical records on the Baekje Royal Palace Garden in order to determine which aspects of the garden are particularly special. The results of these analyses will be used to develop a tentative model for organizing the zones.
To fully showcase the unique attributes of the landscapes in the planned zones, work must be done to restore not only the historically accurate landscapes but also various natural landscape features, such as waterways. Furthermore, the most critical areas at the two sites are the community spaces, primarily because visitors use them more frequently than any other feature. As the Baekje Royal Palace Garden at the Archaeological Site in Wanggung-ri is considered to be an internationally presentable heritage, it has been incorporated into the community areas.
The remains of the garden at Wanggung-ri will not be simply recreated in the zones of the two sites. Rather, they will be recreated with a modern interpretation in order to give visitors to the site an opportunity to understand the Baekje garden more fully. Finally, it is expected that the garden will strengthen the connection between the remains at Wanggung-ri and the Mireuksa Temple Site in the Baekje Historic Areas, which collectively have been designated by UNESCO as a world heritage site.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

개별적으로 사업이 추진 중인 미륵사지와 국립익산박물관, 미륵사지 관광지는 상보적 관계를 가지고 있기 때문에 서로 보완적인 하나의 공간처럼 연계시킬 필요성이 있다. 본고에서는 국립익산박물관과 미륵사지 관광지를 계획대상지로 설정하여 미륵사지와 유기적 연계성을 높이기 위한 방안으로써 백제 정원을 활용을 통한 공간 구성 방안을 제시해 보고자 하였다.
이를 위해 계획 대상지의 경관 요소를 분석하고 그 특성과 한계점을 살펴보았다. 또한, 백제 정원에 대한 역사적 기록과 최근 연구 성과를 검토하여 백제 정원의 특징적 요소를 파악하였다. 앞에서 분석한 내용을 바탕으로 대상지의 공간 구성 방안을 시론적으로 제시 하였다.
계획 대상지의 경관적 특성을 살리기 위해서는 역사적 경관 복원뿐만 아니라 물길 복원 등 자연 경관 복원이 필요하다. 대상지 내의 핵심 공간은 관람객의 이용이 가장 많은 커뮤니티공간이다. 이 공간에 백제적이면서도 국제적인 면모를 갖추고 있다고 평가되는 왕궁리 유적의 백제 정원을 접목시켰다.
계획 대상지의 핵심 공간을 왕궁리 정원 유적의 단순한 재현이 아닌 현대적 재해석을 통해 조성함으로써 관람객들에게 백제 정원을 보다 쉽게 이해할 수 있는 계기가 될 것으로 기대된다. 또한 공간적으로 멀리 떨어진 세계유산 백제역사유적지구 미륵사지와 왕궁리 유적의 연계성을 높일 수 있다.
