International trade is the trade of goods and that of documents. As recently the amount of goods transported has been becoming of large size and the goods transfering at high speed, documents has been also needed to be transfered more quickly. It was the .EDI which enabled documents to be transfered at high speed, therefore this system has been wide over the world.
Electronic Data Interchange(EDI) are radically affecting the manner in which business communicate, negotiate and enter into contractual relations Electronic communication promises to replace paper documentation by standardised electronic messages. However, such change are occurring in legal enviromnent based on paper.
This paper has examined areas where problems may exist for the company already engaged in, or intending to become involved in, the use of electronic data interchange.
It was doubtful that in the law electronic documents may make part of the traditional documents based on paper. To solve this problems it has been attemped to interpret the law established.
Risks exist in any form of business transaction, and EDI does not differ from that norm.
However, these risks can be reduced through the use of interchange agreements. Such agreements spell out the rules and responsibilities that the parties owe.
The development of interchange agreements within the different sectors of industry that can use and benefit from EDI can, in the absence of significant governmental activity, provide a suitable commercial solution and security for the growth of this new technology.
