    After ten years, since computer was introduced into designing, I think, it is time to examine the present trend of CAD engineering and its teaching. The advanced part in designing has aimed to reach systematization and unification related with the standardizational technology - STEP, SGML, VRML - of plan information, by which they could get concurrent modeling plan that made them enjoy lots of applied results.
    The international trend about standardization has developed STEP defined as ISO 10303 to achieve Concurrent Engineering and CALS which enabled them to unify and automate all the process of planning, designing, producing and management that the couldn't expect by documents. This leads to the unification of information and the process. Compared to such developments of informationalization and hardware, those of ours and our study on education of CAD have some problems.
    The education CAD aims to maximize the utilization of computer as an efficient tool of designing as well as to train students to acquire information processing system. We need to introduce and develope the phase-mode in educational process of CAD designing. And it needs sustained concerns and efforts for improving qualified design education and promoting industrial-educational cooperation.
    This study looks into the advanced trend about how to utilize design information and through the cases of foreign country, tries to provide some alternatives about the education of CAD especially for, in two-year college, the efficient and characteristic CAD teaching.
