한국카누의 산실(産室): 강원도 카누협회의 창립과 활동 (88서울올림픽 이전까지) = The Mecca of Canoe in Korea: establishment and activities of Kangwon Canoe Association(Untill 88 Seoul Olympic)

This study investigated the state of action done by the Kangwon canoe association and its staffs who founded in 1980``s when after deciding to host 1988 Seoul Olympic. The results of this study are as follows. First, Kangwon canoe association was the first canoe association in Korea. June of 1982, Mr. Han Ik Soo and Mr, Kim In Soo initiated and founded it on February 16th of 1983 after 6month preparation period. In those days, Mr Han donated money for foundation of the association and imported boats from Japan to acquire technology for domestic production of the boat. Second, in order to develop canoe in Korea, Kangwon canoe association hosted training classes by inviting foreign instructors and sent instructors to overseas for training purposes. In early days of Kangwon canoe, it initiated not only the foundation and promotion of canoe team but also fostered national athletes and instructors by achieving 5 years streak of all around victory in nation sports festival.
