일제하 잡지 『조선무도(朝鮮武道)』를 통해 본 식민주의: 창간호를 중심으로 = Colonialism in the Magazine 『the Chosun Martial Arts (朝鮮武道)』 during the Japanese Colonial Era: Focused on the First Issue

This study focused on exploring the publication process, purpose and meaning of the magazine 『the Chosun Martial Arts (朝鮮武道)』 published during the Japanese colonial era. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, 『the Chosun Martial Arts』 was published as a monthly magazine, established in the Chosun Dynasty on February 14th, 1931. For the publication of this magazine, diverse forms of support were made from individual police stations centered in the Japanese Government General of Korea, Japanese companies and individuals as well as indirectly and directly from martial artists based in Japan. Next, the purpose of publishing this magazine was to promote the national spirit, cultivate the spirit of good health and mental (質實剛健) and to distribute Japanese martial arts among people of the Chosun. Lastly, 『the Chosun Martial Arts』 served as an essential medium to Japanize the Chosun people by distributing Japanese martial arts.
