This thesis makes a description of the direction for the development of the Korean family policy. Korean society, at present, is faced with the realities that the function of traditional family have been denaturalized or its role have been replaced by other groups. For that reason, several aspects of the social problem have been conversed within the family, and still remain untouched without special alternative to it at the dimension of the state. Accordingly, this study made up the plan in that the country intervenes in activating functions of the family and presents a policy alternative to it. As the theoretical background of making discussion over the family policy, this thesis shedded light on the intervention of the policy in the family policy, the activation of the function of the family, and the family policy from a liberalist perspective and from a socialist perspective, and pointed out the target and problem of the family policy in Korea and this thesis suggested a model of development for setting the direction of developing the family policy in Korea and discussed the tasks of the family policy.
