The purpose of this study is to elucidate the potentiality of how transference and countertransference can be solved through `fasting of the mind`, teachings of Chuang Tzu. For that purpose, Chuang-tzu`s Inner Chapters was carefully reviewed. The contents of Chuang-tzu`s Inner Chapters include `the great` and `no self` in 「Carefree Wondering」, `the center of the circle of things`, `the pivot of the Way`, and `lucidity` in 「On the Equality of Things」, `no thickness` and `the emancipation of the gods` in 「Essintials for Nurturing」, `nourish what is central` in 「The Human World」 `Integrity` in 「Symbols of Integrity Fulfilled」, `Tranquillity in Turmoil` and `sit and forget` in 「The Great Ancestral Teacher」, and `Do not` in 「Responses for Emperors and Kings」. The contents of the fasting of the mind represented in Chuang-tzu`s Inner Chapters, as aforementioned, say that the fact that one cultures his own mind indicates restoration to the natural intelligence he has in himself, and that only when he restores to the natural intelligence, he can respond to things. Responding to things says that projection does not occur. Here transference and countertransference cannot be raised as a problem. In as much as there may be no ground for the fact that transference and countertransference work while in fasting of the mind, fasting of the mind may be said to be a prerequisite for psychotherapy
