The purpose of this study is to analyze the children`s social behavior in housing type and to discover the suggestions for the social development of children and improvements of dwelling environment. The subjects for the study included 190 children of individual dwelling and 193 children of high-rise apartment dwelling to attend 1.3.5 grade primary school in Seoul. The instrument used in this study is a questionnare with 12 items designed to measure the children`s social behavior in housing type. Data analysis consisted of percentage and Chi-square. The results obtained from this study were summarized as follows:

1) play behavior
. housing type and floor of apartment and place to spend most time

. housing type and the inconvenient reason place to play
. housing type and the person who mainly play with
2) neighborhood relationship`s behavior

. housing type and behavior to conform
. housing type and use of house surrounding` service
2. The relationship between sex and children` social behavior in housing type was not a statistically significant differences in particular.
3. suggestions and improvements of dwelling environment for the social development of children was.
1) to form services and an circles which could be associated with neightbor friend.
2) to enlarge and improve play services.
3) to study appropriate housing type for children.
