The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of anxiety level to performance in Taekwondo competition.
The subjects of this study were 270 high school Taekwondo contestants in Korea.
Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Test Inventory(STAI) was used in order to investigate the realtionship between anxieties and Taekwondo performance.
The results of this study were as follow;
1. There was significant difference between performance and anxiety level.
State Anxiety level of non-medalist group was higher than medalist group and Trait-Anxiety level of medalist group was higher than non-medalist group.
2. There was significant correlation between State-Anxiety and Trait-Anxiety in medalist group and non-medalist group of high school Taekwondo contestants.
3. Anxiety level was significantly different between 3rd grade and 1st or 2nd grade. State- Anxiety level of 3rd grade was higher than 1st or 2nd grade, but Trait-Anxiety level of grade was lower than that.
4. Anxiety level was not significant differnce among weigh-class in high school Taekwondo contestants.
