      Bilingual education model for deaf children has been applied to educating deaf students who are learning natural sign language as their first language and written language as a second. The purposes of the present study were to touch on some of the major claims made in explications of bilingual models for deaf children and to narrow gap between theory and practice, And my goal is to describe the teaching and learning practices used by teachers and parents withing bilingual learning environment for deaf children, and to broaden the scope of the discussion on bilingual education. Research implication of bilingual education model for deaf children are discussed.

      국문 초록 (Abstract) kakao i 다국어 번역

      본 연구는 구화법, 수화법, 종합적 의사소통법에 이어 대안적인 농아동 교육 모델로 제안되고 있는, 농아동을 위한 이중언어교육 모델과 이 모델이 목표로 설정하고 있는 농아동의 이중언어 능통과, 건청인 사회와 농아인 사회 두 세계에서의 왕성하고 건강한 사회 참여와 관련하여 이루어진 선행 연구들을 검토하여, 이를 기본 가정과 사용 수화 유형, 문어 학습 방법, 수화 문자의 부재, 농아동의 확고한 1차 언어 기반 구축 등의 쟁점별로 고찰하였으며, 농아동을 위한 이중언어 교육의 성공적인 자리매김을 위한 해결 과제 및 성공 조건을 탐색하고, 농아동을 위한 교육 프로그램 설계 및 실천에 주는 시사점을 제시하였다.
