구약성서 하박국 3장 2절의 번역과 그 의의 = A New Tranlation of Habakkuk 3:2 and Its Implications

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study attempts a textual criticism and a new creative translation of Habakkuk 3:2 in the Old Testament. I point out the problem of the translation of the Korean Bible and call for attention to the abuse of this verse as the sermon text that speaks of spiritual revival. As a result of the study, the author translated verse 2 as follows. “O Yahweh, I heard your fame. I, O Yahweh, I saw your work. Among lofty ones, Yahweh’s kins, among lofty ones, you manifested yourself. In (their) shaking, you reminded that you were a ‘merciful one.’” The conclusion of this study shows that the existing Bible translation is a superficial reading of the Hebrew Masoretic text without going through serious textual criticism, and the translation “Revive …… your work” has been understood to refer to the revival of faith. However, it is shown that this is a misinterpretation that has nothing to do with the context of Habakkuk 3.
