This study was carride out to analize and identify the necessary and contents of spiritual care, qualification of those who provide spiritual care,problems of spiritual care, degree of intervention of spiritual care, effect of intervention of spiritual care, and opinion of nursing profession.
The instrument used in this study was the questionaire about spiritual care developed by Young Mee You.
The subjects of this study were 193 students of Junior Nursing College in Sun- Cheon.
This data was collected from December 13 to December 18, 1989.
This data was analized by S.P.S.S package including frequency, ANOVA, T-test, Pearson Correlation Coefficient.
The results of this study were as follows;
1. 62.2% of nursing students had religion.
2. 86.5% of nursing students responded that their religion affected their lives.
3. According to their religious background, the influence that religion affected their lives, the necessity of spiritual care, knowledge about qualification of spiritual nurse, defree of intervention of spiritual care were significantly different.
4. Nursing students who felt that religion affected more of their lives recognized more of the necessity of spiritual care.
5. The church-goers responded that religion affectecl more of their lives, patients asked for more of their spiritual help, felt more necessity of spiritual care, implemented more of spiritual care.
6. Nursing students who had experience of education and discussion concerning spiritual care felt more of spiritual needs of patients, knew more of qualification of spiritual nurse, gave more helping to the patients after intervention of spiritual care, felt more meaning about nursing profession.
7. Nursing students who wanted to study the Bible felt more necessity of spiritual care, and more of spiritual needs of patients, possessed more knowledge about the spiritual care, implemented more of spiritual care.
8. Nursing students who prayed for patients felt more necessity of spiritual care, possessed more knowledge about the spitirual nurse and contents of spititual care, implemented more of spiritual care, gave more helping to the patients after intervention of spiritual care and felt more meaning about nursing profession.
9. Nursing students who were used listening for patients implemented more of spiritual care, gave more helping to the patients after intervention of spiritual care.
10. Nursing students who had knowledge of open communication implementecl more of spiritual care.
11. Nursing students receivd more request of spiritual care from the patients if timing of patients request was recent as possible.
12. The more nursing students felt the necessity of spiritral care, the more students implemented spiritual care to the patients.
13. The more nursing students knew about qualification of spiritual nurse, the more students implemented spiritual care to the patients.
