高麗前期 石造觀音菩薩像 圖像硏究 = A Study on icon of Stone Avalokitesvara of Early Koryo Dynasty

국문 초록 (Abstract)

관음보살은 자비의 화신으로 삼국시대 이래 조각이나 회화의 소재로 널리 애용되었으며 고려시대에도 아미타불과 함께 모든 계층에게 열렬한 신앙의 대상이었다.
관음보살상은 보관에 아미타불의 화불이 새겨져 있고 손에는 연화나 정병을 지물로 삼고 있는 것이 대부분이다. 이 논문은 여러 가지 도상으로 형상화된 관음보살상 가운데 고려 전기에 집중적으로 제작되었던 연꽃을 들고 있는 관음보살상에 대한 것이다.
먼저 통일신라시대 연꽃을 든 보살상의 도상을 분석하여 고려 전기 관음보살상 도상의 연원을 추론하였고 지금까지 미륵보살로 전칭되어왔던 관촉사·대조사보살상들의 존명문제를 다시 한 번 검토한 후 고려 전기에 제작된 연꽃을 들고 있는 보살상들이 관음보살상임을 증명하고자 하였다.
또한 고려 후기의 불화가운데 수월관음도에서 연꽃을 들고 있는 관음보살상은 고려 전기 관음보살장의 도상을 이해하는데 중요한 자료가 된다.
결국 고려 전기에 제작된 연꽃가지를 든 보살상은 모두 관음보살상으로 보아도 좋을 것이며 이러한 도상은 신라 중대 이후 양식적 혼란기를 거쳐 오면서 고려전기에 새롭게 정립된 관음보살상의 도상이라 생각된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Avalokitesvara had been used as a subject of sculptures and paintings since Three Kingdom Peoriod, and was believed in eagerly by people of every class.
Avalokitesvara has Amitabha in the crown and holds lotus and vase as a symbol in hand.
This study is about statues of Avalokitesvara, which have lotus and were made in Early Koryo Dynasty, among the statues of Avalokitesvara embodied in various icons.
First of all, the origin of the statues of Avalokitesvara was suggested, on the base of analysis of icons of Bodhisattva, which hold lotus, of Unified Silla period. And the granite standings of Gwanchoksa and Daejosa known as Maitreya were researched and found that those standings were Avalokitesvara with lotus in the hands, made in Early Koryo Daysnasty.
Avalokitesvara with lotus in Water-moon Avalokitesvara of late Koryo Dynaty is important material to understand icon of Avalokitesvara of early Koryo Dynasty.
It suggest that all statues of bodhisattva which hold lotus and were made in early Koryo Dynasty are Avalokitesvara and these icons of Avalokitesvara had been set through transitional period in style since Unified Shilla.
