This study focuses on social mobility in the Korean society. Social mobility refers to the degree to which the socioeconomic position of an individual or a family can be moved upward or downward within a society. Social mobility is generally represented by the mobility of economic position as well. Also, the economic position is measured by the level of income and wealth or job. While income inequality within a society is a static indicator for the income distribution of a particular moment, social class mobility is a dynamic indicator that measures income mobility within a generation or across generations.
