북한 민족주의의 이중구조에 대한 연구 : 발생론적 민족관과 발전론적 민족관의 결합

국문 초록 (Abstract)

북한은 1991년 김일성의 발언을 계기로 민족주의를 진보적인 사상으로 재해석하였다. 이미 북한은 ‘민족’에 대해서는 근대적 구성물임을 부정하고, 전근대 존재로 평가하였다. 그러나 1990년대에 이르기까지 ‘민족주의’에 대해서는 부정적인 평가를 내리고 있었다.
북한이 1990년대에 민족주의를 진보적인 사상으로 재해석하게 된 이유는 크게 3가지 때문이다. 하나는 소련 및 동유럽 국가들의 붕괴에 따른 체제 수호의 요구이다. 둘째는 1990년대에 본격적으로 진행되던 세계화에 대한 대응의 필요성 때문이었다. 그리고 마지막으로는 한반도 통일 문제에 대한 적극적인 대응이 요구되었다. 이에 따라 북한은 민족을 중심으로 한 사회주의 건설, 애국애족을 공통의 가치로 한 사회주의와 민족주의의 연합을 강조해왔다.
북한의 민족과 민족주의에 대한 해석은 이중적인 구조를 이루고 있다. 즉, 민족은 전근대의 구성물이지만, 민족주의는 근대의 이데올로기이다. 이러한 민족과 민족주의의 관계는 북한의 민족주의 이론이 여전히 맑스주의적 틀로부터 벗어나지 못하고 있음을 의미한다. 즉, 민족은 발생론적 견지에서 해석하면서도 민족주의에 대해서는 발전주의적 의미를 부여하고 있는 것이다. 이는 북한이 민족을 기반으로 한 사회주의 건설을 추진하려는 의도인 동시에, 민족주의의 강조를 통해 자신들의 주장하는 강성대국 건설의 정당성을 획득하고자 한 것이라 보여진다.
이러한 북한의 민족․민족주의 이론은 아직 완성된 것이라 보기 어렵고, 또한 북한이 당면하고 있는 현실의 문제를 해결하기 위한 ‘특수한’성격을 가지고 있음을 의미한다. 사실, 민족주의론이 ‘특수성’을 보편성으로 하고 있다는 점에서 북한의 민족이론 역시 ‘특수성’에 기반하여 이루어지고 있다고 할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

North Korea has re-interpreted the nationalism as the progressive ideology after Kim IlSung's statements in 1991. North Korea Already has estimated the nation as pre-modern construction with had denied it as the modern construction. But North Korea estimated it negatively on the nationalism until 1990s.
The reasons why North Korea re-interpreted the nationalism as the progressive ideology were as followings. First, it was the require for the security of the system itself after breaking down of USSR and eastern european states. Second, it was the necessity for countermeasures against the globalization which had spread in earnest in 1990s. Last, it was required for new countermeasures on the unification. As these reasons, North Korea emphasized the building for socialist based on the 'nation' and the unity between socialism and nationalism based on the devotion to country and to people(patriotism).
The analyses of the nation and the nationalism being re-interpreted by North Korea were constructed with dual structures. North Korea analyzed the nation as the pre-modern construction, but the nationalism as the modern ideology. This means that North Korean idea on the nation and the nationalism don't get out of the marxist frame yet. In other words, North Korea analyzed the nation in the evolutionary view, but gave the developmental meaning to the nationalism. This is the aim that North Korea tries to develop the socialist system based on the 'nation' and tries to get legitimation for building the 'poweful great state.'
As the results, It is hard to understand as the 'theory of the nation and the nationalism' of North Korea is completed. Also, it means that the theory has particularity for solving the problems North Korea is being faced. In fact, theories on the nation and the nationalism are generally universal phenomenon base on the particularities. In the same manner, North Korean theory of the nation and the nationalism is being developed based on the particularity.
