      To evaluate the clinical applicability of using PRF mixed with the synthetic bone materials compared to using PRP and no surgical additives. Four bicortical skull defects were prepared in 4 New Zealand white rabbits. In each, 1 defect was used as control and 3 defects were filled with HA/β-TCP, PRP mixed with HA/β-TCP, and PRF mixed with HA/β-TCP separately. After 8weeks, the rabbits were sacrificed and new bone formation was assessed by soft x-ray, conebeam CT and the histomorphometric analysis. Compared tocontrol group, the others showed remarkable bone formations. And PRP and PRF groups showed better results than no additive group. But there was no significant difference between PRP and PRF. The findings demonsatrates that the addition of PRP or PRF enhances bone formation. Though we cannot conclude PRF is superior to PRP from this study only, PRF can help the bone healing.
