Civilization has deepened the urban concentration of population, leading to the side effects of traffic congestion and environmental problems. This has caused enormous social overhead costs and degradation of urban residential environment. In order to overcome these, the development of urban air traffic systems in connection with existing land transportation, which has been longed for, is becoming possible through technological development in power electronics, distributed propulsion, energy storage, and autonomous flight control. In order to preoccupy the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) market, leading countries in the aviation industry are concentrating on investments in industries, technology, and regulatory frame. In case of Korea, it is attempting to take an opportunity to build a domestic industrial ecosystem that responds to preemptive investments by some industries. This paper intends to review the expansion of UAM, which grows rapidly within a short period of time, by region and sector, and share trends of domestic related industries and governments.
