This descriptive correlational research aimed to investigate the influence of clinical nurse’s empathy competence, communication skills and Nursing professionalism on geriatric nursing performance. Data collection took place between August 5 and August 18, 2024, involving 176 nurses with more than 6 months of clinical experience at a general hospital in City D. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, scheffé test, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis through the SPSS WIN 28.0 program. The results of the study are outlined as follows: Geriatric nursing performance, when examined in relation to the subjects' general characteristics, showed statistically significant differences based on to clinical experience (F=6.875, p=.001), experience in elderly-related education (t=2.227, p=.027). Furthermore, geriatric nursing performance exhibited significant positive correlations empathy competence (r=.618, p<.001), communication skills (r=.496, p<.001), nursing professionalism (r=.517, p<.001) A hierarchical regression analysis was performed to identify the factors influencing Geriatric Nursing Performance and found that general characteristics of the research subjects, such as clinical experience, experience in elderly-related education, had statistically significant differences in Geriatric Nursing Performance. In the analysis, Empathy competence, Communication skills, Nursing professionalism were included as independent variables, and experience in elderly-related education were converted into dummy variables for analysis. In Model 1, it was observed that clinical experience (β=-.175, p=.019) and experience in elderly-related education (β=.174, p=.020) had a significant effect on Geriatric Nursing Performance, accounting for a total of 4.7% of the variance (F=5.358, p=006). In Model 2, clinical experience (β=-.143, p=.016), Empathy competence (β=.518, p<.001), Nursing professionalism (β=.175, p=042) were identified as significant factors influencing Geriatric Nursing Performance. The explanatory power of Model 2 increased substantially by 35.7%, explaining a total of 40.4% (F=35.443, p<.001). The findings of this study affirm that Clinical nurses’ Empathy competence and Nursing professionalism play crucial roles in influencing the Geriatric Nursing Performance. Consequently, to enhance Geriatric Nursing Performance, it is imperative to explore diverse strategies to foster Empathy competence and Nursing professionalism by providing educational programs for self-development and motivation at the organizational level within the hospital.
