지리교육과 인권교육의 관계 탐색 = Exploring Relation Between Geography Education and Human Rights Education

As human rights emerged as one of key concepts in the integrated social studies, the question of how to educate human rights in terms of space became a field of great interest. Thus, this study explored the meaning and category of human rights and human rights education, and then explored the possibility and relevance through human rights education and how human rights can be taught through geography . If the human rights in the social studies are mainly dealt with in the basic rights of human beings and the constitutional aspect to guarantee them, the necessity of approaching human rights issues through local and global linkages from the spatial point of view is raised. Geography enables students to explore key human rights issues at various scales through local-global linkages, thereby developing critical geographic skills of critical thinking and decision-making. In addition, human rights education through geography can develop its own values based on the principle of human rights, and can provide an environment for action as a global citizen. Thus, human rights education through geography can help students explore the nature of citizenship at various spatial scales, from local to global.
