교육의 과학화와 영화의 자료화 1: 1900~30년대 필름 라이브러리와 카탈로그 = The Scientification of Education and Datalization of Film 1: Film Library and Catalog from the 1900s to the 1930s

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 교육의 과학화 장치로서 영화와 도서관이 결합하여 등장했던 필름라이브러리의 역사적 계보를 그려보고 영화가 어떻게 교육자료로서 관리되고배급되기 시작했는지 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위해 1900년대에서 1930년대에 미국에서 제작되었던 대표적인 교육영화 카탈로그 세 편과 1950, 60년대에 한국에서 발행되었던 대표적인 교육영화 카탈로그 세 편을 선정해서 비교 분석할 것이다. 본 논문은 분석을 위한 첫 부분으로, 1900년대 찰스어반무역회사, 1910, 20년대 시각교육 전문잡지 『영화시대』, 1930년대 문헌정보 전문 출판사인 윌슨사가 각각 출판했던 필름 카탈로그를 시대별 대표로 선정하고 양식의 변화를 고찰한다. 이를 통해 1900년대부터 1930년대까지 전개되었던 교육영화 관련 주체들의 관심이 어떻게 이동하고 있는지를 이해할 수 있다. 교육영화 카탈로그 제작의 목적은 세 단계로 변화했다. 첫 번째는 비극장용 영화 배급망을 구축하는 것이었고, 두 번째는 교육학 연구에 기초해서 관객을 고려한 영화 상영기획의 개념을 도입한 것이었고, 세 번째는 도서관학을 통해 영화가 책만큼 체계적으로 분류되고 지식의 계층에 대응할 수 있다는 것을 보여준 것이다.
