Case Study on the Application of Home Furniture Product Service System: Focus on the Chinese Market

The Chinese home furniture industry is facing both significant potential and challenges as consumption grows and the market evolves, leading to an incomplete design thinking model. This study explores the theoretical investigation and practical validation of the applicability and feasibility of the service design double diamond model for developing a product-service system (PSS) design strategy for home furniture. The research process aims to refine and clarify the model to ensure its practical applicability. Grounded in the trends of customized home furnishings and the internet economy, the study begins with an exploration of the “product-service system” and the “double diamond model,” constructing the Home Furniture Product-Service System (HFPSS) design framework based on a solid theoretical foundation. Through detailed descriptions of its structure and application guidelines, the framework provides practical guidance for implementation. Finally, a case study that applies and evaluates the HFPSS framework demonstrates the potential benefits of this approach. The findings indicate that design thinking, as represented by HFPSS, can offer a more systematic and actionable perspective, as well as insights for theoretical innovation in the Chinese market.
