고야문의 <조선무도가 최승희 朝鲜舞蹈家 崔承熙>를 통해 본 월북 전 최승희의 생애 = The Life of Choi, Seung-hee Before Defecting to North Korea as Seen Through Goyamun’s <Joseon Dance Artist Choi, Seung-hee>

This study is based on the translation and review of the literature of <Joseon Dance Artist Choi, Seung-hee>(朝鲜舞蹈家 崔承熙: edited by Go Ya-mun, Shanghai, China, Munoh Publishing, 1951), an early rare record about Choi, Seung-hee published in Chinese in Shanghai, China 1951. It is meaningful in that it examines Choi Seung-hee's appearance as described from China and the Chinese perspective, and further enriches the discussion on Choi, Seung-hee's historical position and cultural status at the time.
‘Joseon Dance Artist Choi, Seung-hee’ is a book that is considered meaningful piece of material for researchers related to Choi, Seung-hee, but the specific contents of the translated literature have never been introduced or covered. Accordingly, the researcher focused on Choi, Seung-hee's life history before their defection to North Korea in 1945, which is before the political aspects of the book become pronounced, and attempted to reveal a specific perspective on Choi, Seung-hee from that time by contrasting and comparing it with existing related literature and studies.
This study reveals that Choi, Seung-hee's life before defecting to North Korea, highlighted in 'Joseon Dance Artist Choi Seung-hee', was the journey of a nationalist artist against the circumstantial Japanese cultural oppression, and of his status as a pioneer representing and creating oriental dance art encompassing Korea, China, and Japan.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 1951년 중국 상해에서 중국어로 발간된 최승희에 관한 초창기 희귀자료인 ‘조선무도가 최승희 朝鲜舞蹈家 崔承熙’(고야문 편저, 중국 상해, 문오출판사, 1951)의 문헌 번역과 고찰에 기반하여 당시 중국과 중국인의 시각에서 기술된 최승희의 모습을 알아보고 최승희에 대한 역사적 사료 및 시대 문화적 위상에 대한 논의를 더욱 풍성하게 하는 것에 의의가 있다.
‘조선무도가 최승희’는 최승희 관련 연구자들에게 의미 있는 자료로 여겨진 서적이지만 번역된 문헌의 구체적인 내용이 소개되거나 다루어진 적은 없었다. 이에 연구자는 책의 내용 중 정치적인 면이 두드러지기 이전인 1945년 월북 전까지의 최승희의 생애사 부분에 집중하여 관련된 기존 문헌 및 연구들과의 대조와 비교를 통해 최승희에 대한 당시의 특정 시각을 드러내고자 했다.
‘조선무도가 최승희’에서 강조하는 월북 전 최승희의 생애는 당시 시대적 상황에서 일제의 문화적 탄압에 대항하는 민족주의 예술가로서의 여정과 한·중·일을 아우르는 동양의 무용 예술을 대표하고 창조하려는 선구자로서의 위상으로 집약됨을 이 연구는 밝힌다.
