      The stem cell therapy in veterinary medicine continues to grow both experimentally and clinically. Application of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell (MSC), umbilical cord blood-derived MSC, bone marrow-derived MSC and skeletal muscle-derived MSC fo...

      The stem cell therapy in veterinary medicine continues to grow both experimentally and clinically. Application of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell (MSC), umbilical cord blood-derived MSC, bone marrow-derived MSC and skeletal muscle-derived MSC for treatment of various diseases are currently in use for several species. However, the differential efficacies of various approaches are still being investigated.
      In stem cell therapy, common disease animal models include mouse, rat, rabbit, swine, canine, caprine, equine and dolphin are used. Whereas for clinical models, canine, equine are dolphin are used. We need attention and participation from the researchers of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, and now it is necessary to develop mutual understanding and cooperation between veterinary and human medicine fields. This review is focused on some of the recent status of stem cell therapy in the veterinary medicine.
